Athens and Istanbul Art Biennial Tour

A History of Greek Classical Art to Contemporary Art at the Istanbul Art Biennial

Join our 9-night trip through Greece and Turkey designed for travelers eager to explore the intersections of art, history, and culture. Beginning in Athens, the tour follows the evolution of Greek art from the Archaic period to the splendor of the Hellenistic era, offering insight into the roots of Western visual culture. The journey then continues to Istanbul, where Byzantine and Islamic influences reveal a rich and layered artistic heritage. Alongside historical exploration, the program includes a visit to the Istanbul Biennial, creating a direct connection with contemporary artistic practices from around the world. More than a cultural tour, this experience invites participants to reflect on the dialogue between ancient traditions and the artistic realities of the present. Open to everyone!

Greece and Turkey Art Tour: From the Birth of Western Artistic Ideals to Contemporary Realism

Athens Art Tour: From Greek Antiquity to Contemporary Expression

Discover Athens as a living classroom where philosophy, history, and art come together. Walking through its ancient streets and monuments, we will trace the evolution of Western art and thought — from the ideals of Greek Antiquity to Byzantine influences and the realities of Contemporary Art. Museums and archaeological sites will become spaces of revelation, offering a deeper understanding of how these traditions continue to shape our cultural imagination today.

In the Agora, where Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, and other thinkers once gathered, we will reflect on the foundations of Western thought. Were you meant to be a Stoic or an Epicurean? How did ancient philosophies influence not only ethics and politics, but also concepts of beauty, love, and human representation throughout art history?

Our evenings will unfold in the vibrant neighborhood of Plaka, where Greek gastronomy, conversation, and shared reflection are part of the experience itself. Inspired by the Socratic method, we will question and debate together, engaging with timeless ideas of justice, truth, virtue, and beauty — not as distant theories, but as living questions that continue to shape both art and contemporary life.

Istanbul Art Tour : From Byzantium to Contemporary Art

Our journey continues in Istanbul, a city where layers of history, culture, and artistic traditions coexist like nowhere else in the world. Crossing between Europe and Asia, Istanbul reveals a unique dialogue from Bizantium to Contemporary Art. Together, we will experience how centuries of exchange between East and West continue to shape the city’s identity today.

From the moment we arrive, we will immerse ourselves in the legacy of former Constantinople, exploring the city by ferry, funicular, and on foot. Along the way, we will encounter some of history’s most extraordinary architectural and artistic landmarks, including Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace, while also wandering through hidden courtyards, underground cisterns, lively bazaars, and the vibrant streets that define everyday life in Istanbul.

The experience also extends through the senses. From the flavors of Turkish gastronomy to iconic local specialties enjoyed along the Bosphorus, gastronomy becomes another way of understanding the city’s rich cultural fabric.

Our time in Istanbul culminates with the 19th Istanbul Biennial, offering a direct encounter with today’s international contemporary art scene. In the context of Istanbul’s immense historical depth, the Biennial becomes more than an exhibition — it opens a space where past and present, tradition and experimentation, continuously meet and reshape one another.
