Art retreat in Italy (Tuscany)
Our top art retreats in Italy are open to artists of all levels, from beginners to advanced and all mediums (oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc.). They combine plein air landscape painting, art history, and gourmet cuisine, for the perfect painting holidays in Tuscany. “A jewel in the crown of art workshops” wrote one of our former participants.
Overview
Our unique art retreats in Italy are great for artists of all levels, from very beginners to advanced. They are the perfect mix of plein air painting, stimulating art history lectures, touring, and gourmet meals in the most beautiful area of Tuscany. Participants can use the medium of their choice, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc. During our painting workshops in Italy, days are full and fun. Mornings are devoted to instruction at our lodge. Afternoons, to plein air painting sessions in the Val d’Orcia or nearby towns such as Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Lucignano. And evenings, to discussions around gourmet meals accompanied with great regional wines. We also spend one day in Florence visiting the Uffizi Museum and other important sites. To sum up, nine full days of art and gastronomy for the best painting holidays in Tuscany.
Since we limit the size of our groups to eight participants, we can offer personalized instruction and a stimulating learning environment. Prof. Yves M. Larocque is our painting instructor and art historian in Italy. You will certainly enjoy his passionate teaching style. Our painting holidays in Tuscany are so successful that we have artists who have joined us more than three times already. Furthermore, 60% of our participants register for a second workshop in Provence. Studio Italia is also perfect for accompanying partners who enjoy the landscape, the visits to historical towns, the lectures, the food, and wine.
During our art holidays in Tuscany, we stay in a comfortable and spacious 18th-century house located near Cortona and Lucignagno. It is surrounded by vineyards and fields of olive trees. The house has several bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large kitchen, a dining room, a salon, and a swimming pool. Meals offered at our lodge are delicious and balanced. They reflect Italian cuisine and its staples including olives, fresh herbs, tomatoes and great cheeses such as Gorgonzola and Pecorino Romano.
