Biography
Although my adult life has been spent living in the wilderness of far northern Minnesota, close to Lake Superior, I have been fortunate to travel the world extensively. During those treks, I immerse myself in the art and culture of the places that are visited and blend them with the natural beauty around me during my regular life. My career was as an art educator. My degrees were in art education and art history. Art has always been in my blood and is a consuming interest. I continually take classes to expand my knowledge. The most recent workshops were with Walk the Arts (Stdio Italia), both in person, in Italy, and online.
Statement
There is an unforgiving, tragic ruggedness in the aspects of nature that I portray. While still maintaining symmetry, form and balance it has become my mission to convey the drama of the natural world, and what a fragile cog humanity is in the scheme of things. The creation of texture is a major aspect in what I do.
My background in art history and education, bring me an awareness of who and what has preceeded me, and how to convey my messages in a unique way
